Dr. Sylvia Sloan Black has over seventeen years of coaching experience and has been a Delta Leadership coach for 9 years. She earned her doctorate in strategic management from Columbia University Business School. She has an MBA from the University of Kansas, an MS in computer science from the University of North Carolina and a BS in physics from Howard University. Before retirement from academia, Sylvia held faculty positions at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she taught courses in strategic management, international business, and strategic innovation in the undergraduate and MBA programs. At Kenan-Flagler, she also taught MBA electives in international strategic alliances and African business. In addition, she taught strategic management to mid-level managers in the United States Postal Service’s Advanced Leadership Program for seven years. Sylvia has made numerous presentations at academic conferences and has published articles on executive leadership, competition, strategic alliances, and training leaders in scholarly journals. She has also held industry positions in operations management and finance in the private and federal government sectors. She is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and is Board-certified by the Center for Credentialing and Education.
