A longtime advocate for community development, public health, and economic opportunity, she most recently served as Chair of the Durham County Board of Commissioners, where she led the county through the dual crises of a global pandemic and a national reckoning on racial justice. With a career anchored in strategic planning, executive coaching, legislative affairs, and stakeholders’ engagement, Ms. Howerton has a proven record of driving system change and creating solutions that improve valued added service which support the business plans and goals of the internal customer.
